Hi, I am Lara Chicos, NRHEG's Special Education Case Facilitator. My main duties consist of doing new evaluations for special education as well as reevaluations. I also plan the annual meetings and many other special education related duties. I have an office in both buildings and work with students in Bridges/Kindergarten through 12th grade. I have been working in education since 1998 and have been a part of the NRHEG schools since 2012.

I am originally from West St. Paul, Minnesota but now live in Waseca, along with my husband, daughter, dogs, cats, and turtle. My undergrad education degree is from Luther College and graduate degrees from St Thomas and the U of M. In my free time I love to read, sew, and go to the theater.

This is my 35th year of teaching Special Education. I am currently working with 6, 7 and 8th graders. My teaching degree is from MNSU-Mankato. My husband Bill and I live in Albert Lea with our dog, Nora. We have 3 children; our oldest daughter, Mariah, is married to Scott and lives in North Mankato. She is a 1st grade teacher in St. Peter, MN. Lana lives in Albert Lea and is the SHIP Coordinator for Freeborn County. Our son Logan is a freshman this year at MNSU-Mankato. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, reading and camping.

I grew up outside of Ellendale and graduated from NRHEG in 1999. I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Mankato State University and a master's degree in special education from the University of North Dakota. I live in the community with my husband Scott and two children, Kendel and Jordy..
